藝術是藝術家綜合素養的產物，它已超越了物質層面（繪畫技法）的訴求，而更多的是隱含在藝術家背后的學養和思考，它是藝術家在藝術之外的尋求，有利于藝術的長久發展。中國油畫院開展的人文講座即是出于此種考慮，特別邀請社會各人文學科領域的學者對其多年研究的成果進行闡述，并與中國油畫院師生進行深入的交流和探討。所涉及的領域有哲學、宗教學、文學、歷史學、社會學等其他藝術學科。
Art is the product of the artist’s comprehensive attainment; more than merely an appeal to superficial material techniques, it is a vessel for the artist’s education and philosophy. A work of art is the culmination of the artist’s pursuits beyond art, and it is this which allows for the perpetual development of art. The humanities lectures organized by the Academy, based on this principle, invite scholars from all fields of the humanities to present the results of their many years of research and engage in deep exchange and discussion with teachers and students of the Academy. Relevant fields include philosophy, religious studies, literature, history, sociology and other humanities and social sciences.
