Seminar

The Chinese Academy of Oil Painting is an oil painting institution combining creation, education, and exchange. To train a new generation of Chinese oil painters, in accordance with the student recruitment plan of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, the Chinese Academy of Oil Painting has established two separate seminars on the expression of form and image in classical realist oil painting for students to choose from based on their professional goal. The school year lasts one year and begins in the fall. To ensure the implementation of the education plan, the seminar is held all-day for five days each week, fulltime. The location is the Chinese Academy of Oil Painting. At the end of the academic year, students receive a Certificate of Completion for the Chinese National Academy of Arts Graduate Level Training Course.

The recruitment tenet of the seminar is: to study the form system of Western oil painting, with the classical artistic spirit of Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome and the Renaissance as the foundation; to advocate the artistic principles of eternity, harmony and rationality, and investigate the universal questions of inheriting tradition, experiencing nature and comprehending life, in pursuit of pure artistic principles and values and bottom-up reform; to seek an approach in this diverse cultural landscape that combines East and West, classics and modernity, reason and emotion, in order to create high-quality works of art embodying the zeitgeist, sincere national emotions and deep artistic charisma, and advance the healthy development of Chinese oil painting.
